About Meitriz
Located between Arada and Montemuro mountains, there is a small paradise called Meitriz. It was the first village of Arouca to be classified as "Aldeia de Portugal".
A place strongly characterized by agricultural exploration, flanked by terraces, green meadows and crystalline water courses, it is undoubtedly a treasure to be preserved in Portuguese territory.
Meitriz is known mainly for its meat specialties, namely Arouquesa veal and Alvarenga steaks.
You can also delight yourself with the conventual pastries and the magnificent "Vinhos Verdes" of the region.
Accessibility
In the past, the only way to reach Meitriz was on a small boat, and today can be accessed through a bridge.
The village is located about 22km from Arouca and is surrounded by the fabulous Paiva river.
The offer is based mainly on Local Accommodation, due to its proximity to the environment and nature. Arouca is the most popular place to stay overnight, offering a wide range of tourist services. Albergaria da Serra is also an excellent option with good accessibility.
